CMAS Test Design

CMAS test design is built around frameworks, blueprints, evidence statements, and scoring tools that work together to ensure the assessments measure the Colorado Academic Standards.

Frameworks outline which evidence outcomes are eligible to be tested and specify how much of the test (in percentages and score points) is dedicated to each reporting category or standard area. CDE incorporated feedback from content experts and educators throughout the state to create the final versions of the frameworks.

Additional resources include evidence statements that describe the skills students must demonstrate, task models that show how questions are structured, and scoring rubrics that guide how responses are evaluated. Together, these components create a consistent and balanced system that ensures the CMAS assessments measure the full range and depth of the standards across subjects and grade levels.
