Data Governance

CDE recognizes the significance of data for its vision of creating equitable educational environments where all students and staff thrive. Consequently, CDE is continuously improving its data governance program to ensure a strong data culture based on data management best practices, clear accountability, data stewardship, and a transparent, consistent decision-making structure. 

The CDE Data Governance Program is an ongoing endeavor that, when fully deployed, will ensure that data used for operations, reporting, and analytics is: clearly defined, of high quality, stored for organization-wide use, managed in a coherent manner, and will deliver valid, accurate results. At the same time, the Data Governance Program will ensure that the unique data privacy and security requirements for CDE data are met. CDE appreciates that it is ultimately a steward of the data it manages. Through established policy and procedures, the Data Governance Program will guide CDE employees to appropriately share and use data to improve educational outcomes and in support of CDE’s Strategic Plan while maintaining appropriate data protections for the students and educators that the CDE serves.
