Visual Impairment, Including Blindness

Sound Bites Webinar Series

Colorado educators of students with blindness / low vision are invited to join the 2026-2027 Sound Bites Webinar Series. Registration will close two weeks ahead of each session. Please do not register unless you can make a firm commitment to attend.

The nine sessions will be hosted via Zoom from 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM MST on the following dates:

1. August 26, 2026 on CVI and Braille with Katie and Mae Lane Karnas
2. September 30, 2026: "Growing Access: Making Agriculture Accessible for Every Student," presented by Dr. Tiffany Wild
3. October 21, 2026: "Utilizing Conflict to Build Trust in the Special Education Process," presented by Katherine Rains
4. November 4, 2026: "The Universe Is for Everyone: Accessible Science from Rocks to Stars," presented by Dr. Tiffany Wild
5. December 2, 2026: "Decision-Making Tips When Choosing a Braille Display with your Student," presented by Eli Sanchez and Leslie Edmonds
6. January 27, 2027: "TVI and Assistive Technology Competencies," presented by Dr. Benjamin Lytle
7. March 17, 2027: "How Low Vision Devices Work (or Sometimes Don't Work)," presented by Dr. David Simpson
8. April 7, 2027: "Retina to Reality: Translating Microperimetry, Visual Fields, Retinal Imaging, and Diagnoses into Functional Vision," presented by Dr. Kara Hanson
