Every School Day Matters! Attendance Campaign

Every school day matters!
Academic success for Colorado students starts with being in school on time every day. Every member of our community has a role to play in supporting student attendance, and this resource hub is designed to help schools, parents, families, and local partners spread the word that every school day matters.
Attendance Challenge
- The Colorado Department of Education challenges Colorado LEA's to embrace a bold yet achievable goal: cut chronic absenteeism rates from pandemic highs in half over the next five years.
- Schools or districts who join will be highlighted in CDE materials, commit to sharing best practices and receive updated resources

Why are you joining this challenge?
- "We know that if can get students to our schools, we have the staff and systems to help all students be successful." -Alamosa School District leader
- "We are joining this challenge because attendance is directly related to student outcomes. It is our goal to ensure students are supported, achieving at a high level, and are prepared for what lies ahead after graduating from high school." - Cherry Creek School District leader

Attendance Challenge Champions
The Attendance Challenge Champion recognition celebrates school districts that are making significant progress in reducing chronic absenteeism and helping more students attend school regularly.
Champions are recognized based on their progress over the past four years, with a focus on districts that have substantially decreased chronic absenteeism since the 2021–2022 school year.
Their success demonstrates what is possible when educators, families, and communities work together to keep students engaged, connected, and learning every school day.
These districts are leading the way in Colorado and showing that meaningful progress in student attendance is possible.
