A three-part introductory e-training tailored for Colorado educators to learn proven strategies to promote attendance and engagement.

What will it take to significantly reduce absenteeism in your district? Are you ready to lead meaningful change that improves the engagement of all students in the 2025-2026 school year?  This network of leaders provides powerful support for addressing this complex challenge in today’s schools. 

• District and School Leaders looking for an in-depth opportunity to work on goals to reduce chronic absenteeism. Teams are encouraged to register together.

Already participated in a Chronic Absenteeism learning cohort and looking to continue your learning? These peer learning network sessions will create space to hear about new research and resources from the CDE, and to open up regular opportunities to work collaboratively with your peers.

From Policy to Practice: Strengthening Behavior & Discipline Systems

The Community of Practice (CoP) brings together school- and district-level staff who support student engagement, behavior/discipline, and school climate—regardless of title. Through collaborative discussions, root cause analysis, the sharing of effective strategies, and the setting of short-cycle improvement goals, participants will explore how adult practices, policies, and systems impact student outcomes. Together, we’ll move from policy to practice to create more supportive, equitable environments for all students. 

• Audience: Teams from both school and district levels that support student engagement, discipline, and climate and culture.
• 4 sessions (Virtual and in-person options available). Tentative timing for the 2025-26 school year includes the following weeks: October 13th, December 8th, February 2nd, and April 27th.

Learning from Exemplary Practice in School Climate, Safety, and Discipline

Spotlight Visits offer a unique opportunity for educators and leaders to learn directly from schools and districts that are implementing innovative, effective, and equitable approaches to school safety, climate, and student behavior.   

• Registration will be available once sites have been identified. 

Preventing School Violence (Managed by Office of Learning Supports): Gain valuable insights, strategies, and resources to create a safer and more supportive environment for students and staff with these 45-Minute Training Series.  The content-related overview will provide a summary of the practices and a school or district presentation on their approach.

• August 27th: Restorative Practices - Building Trust before conflict

• October 8th: Cultivating Mental Health Awareness

Description: Join us for a brief webinar on hot topics in the field followed by a problem solving opportunity to work with other grantees funded by the Dropout Prevention office.  Come prepared to share and receive feedback and ideas on an issue or challenge you are facing during this 2-hour problem of practice experience.  

Every six weeks, we’ll host a virtual opportunity for grantees to deepen their understanding of effective practices, key implementation milestones and connect with others in the field. This series is designed to provide support in a way that has not been structured for grantees before, focusing on the core components of Ninth Grade Success work.
