Weighting of Quality Standards

Local Flexibility for Educator Evaluations. Educators Matter.

Promising practices of flexibilities, efficiencies, and differentiation for selecting weights for quality standards

Did You Know?

The Quality Standards for each educator type (teacher, principal, and the nine special services providers) do not need to be weighted equally. Districts and BOCES have the opportunity to prioritize specific Quality Standards based on local initiatives or weight each Quality Standard based on the number of Elements if the district has that value.

Ideas for Selecting Weights for Quality Standards

Example of weighting standards based on district priorities

One district has prioritized content and instruction for its Unified Improvement Plan (UIP), so it decided to weight Standards I and III more heavily to reflect this emphasis.
