Steps to Get an International Transcript Evaluated
International transcript evaluation is a process of evaluating and converting academic records from another country into an American equivalency. If you have staff that need to have an evaluation done, the following steps describe the process:
- Choose a credential evaluation agency that is a NACES member. NACES members can be found in this Directory of NACES members.
- Determine the documentation required. Each international credential evaluation vendor will have country by country documentation requirements on their website.
- Prepare your documentation for upload. This may include but is not limited to certificates, transcripts and government-issued ID.
- Select evaluation type. A course-by-course evaluation will provide a detailed academic breakdown and is required by the Colorado Department of Education.
- Submit application and payment. Creation of an account is often required but allows the secure transfer of documentation. The cost of an evaluation can range from $150-$400. The cost will often vary depending on how much documentation needs to be translated into English.
- Wait for evaluation and report delivery. The turnaround time is generally posted on the international transcript evaluation vendor’s website and can vary depending on the complexity of the evaluation.
- Use the report. The final report can be sent to employers, educational institutions, included in a Colorado Department of Education licensing application or used for a Colorado Department of Early Childhood credential.
