Multiple Measures for Alternative Candidates: Submission Process

Multiple Measures for Alternative Candidates: Submission Process

Colorado alternative teacher candidates may use multiple measures to enter an alternative program, to exit an alternative program or both. The process to submit for review is the same.

First Review Endorsement Requirements

To enroll in a program:

For entrance

If you don't meet the above, you can submit for a Multiple Measures of Content Competency review by following these steps:

  1. Complete the appropriate endorsement worksheet
  2. Gather together supporting documentation as outlined on the worksheet (which may include transcripts, course syllabi, PRAXIS exam reports or portfolio evidence)
  3. Create a COOL account or log in to COOL, select the "Apply for Credential" button and then scroll to the authorization list at the bottom of the page, locate the "Multiple Measures of Content Competency" form and select "Apply." (Please note: There is no application fee and a credential will not be issued.)
  4. Upon completion of the reviews, candidates will be notified via the email address in their COOL account.

Upon notification for entrance:

  • If approved for entrance, provide proof of approval to your Colorado alternative preparation program and request a statement of assurance (SOA) for an alternative teacher license.
  • If not approved for entrance, work with your alternative program to request an SOA for an interim authorization and to determine how best to meet requirements upon exit.
    • Upon receipt of SOA, log in to COOL to complete an alternative teacher application for an interim authorization.

To complete a program:

For exit

If you don't meet the above, you can submit for a Multiple Measures of Content Competency review by following these steps:

  1. Complete the appropriate endorsement worksheet
  2. Gather together supporting documentation as outlined on the worksheet (which may include transcripts, course syllabi, PRAXIS exam reports or portfolio evidence)
  3. Log in to COOL, select the "Apply for Credential" button and then scroll to the authorization list at the bottom of the page, locate the "Multiple Measures of Content Competency" form and select "Apply." (Please note: There is no application fee and a credential will not be issued.)
  4. Upon completion of the reviews, candidates will be notified via the email address in their COOL account.

Upon notification for exit:

  • If approved for exit, provide proof of approval to your Colorado alternative preparation program and request a program verification form (APV).
  • If not approved for exit, determine how best to proceed, whether by submitting additional information for review, by taking a course that meets requirements not met or by taking the approved PRAXIS exam(s).
    • Then either follow the submission steps above or provide a copy of your passing PRAXIS score report(s) to your preparation program to request an APV.
