Left Side Bar Menu in GAINS

This training walks users through the options and features of the GAINS left sidebar menu. This training will be useful for all users of GAINS.

Note: Sidebar Menu options are dependent upon roles and permissions for each user. This training will walkthrough menu options available to users in the LEA Authorized Representative roles.

Login into GAINS and start from the homepage.

The GAINS Left Sidebar has 13 options:

  1. GAINS Homepage: Use this to return to the main homepage at any time.
  2. Search: Use this feature to search for organizations, grants, or application supplements.
    1. Searching for Grants using this feature will result in a list of all awarded applicants for a specific grant competition and the award amounts.
    2. The Organization search can be used to locate contacts for other organizations by clicking on their name in the results list and then clicking on the Address Book.
  3. Inbox: Use this feature to locate all emailed communications through GAINS.
  4. Monitoring: Use this feature to access any monitoring instruments assigned to the organization.
  5. Application Supplement: Use this feature to access any Application Supplements assigned to the organization.

    1. The Budget Summary page is a useful tool to see budget data by Object Code or Function Code across all of your organization’s awarded grants in GAINS. This data is viewed by fiscal year and can be printed in a PDF version or downloaded into Excel.
    2. The Budget Revenue Download file from the Budget Download page provides the expended amounts for all grants awarded to the organization in GAINS.
  7. Fund Request: Use this feature to locate a summary of all fund requests, click to view fund requests by grant, and search fund requests.
    1. Users will initiate and submit Fund Requests by clicking into a grant on the Fund Request Page.
    2. Users can also see the status of submitted fund requests on the Project Summary page.
  8. Project Overview: Use this feature to see an overview of payments against approved budgets by funding application. This feature is useful to get a broad overview of what has been paid for a specific awarded grant and what has yet to be drawn down.
  9. LEA Document Library: Use this to find organization specific grant and related documentation from CDE such as Grant Award Letters (GALs).
  10. Address Book: Use this to view members of your organization by role in GAINS. This is particularly useful in identifying and finding contact information for LEA User Access Administrators who can assign and remove roles of users in your organization.
