Field Trip:
Celebrating Colorado’s School Counselors and a Statewide Honoree
Recently, we celebrated National School Counseling Week (Feb. 2-6) on our social media channels by recognizing the school counselors who help students feel supported, seen, and ready to learn. At Baker Elementary in Morgan County School District Re-3, counselor Matthew McLain does that work every day—guiding students through big emotions, building social-emotional skills, and helping them arrive in class ready to succeed. His impact was recently recognized statewide when the Colorado School Counselor Association named him Colorado School Counselor of the Year.
School counselors play a vital role in student well-being and academic success. They create safe spaces, connect students with resources, and partner with educators and families to remove barriers to learning. This week, we’re proud to celebrate Matthew and counselors across Colorado whose care and commitment help students thrive in school and beyond. See more photos on our Flickr page.
